CrossFit Thrive Becomes Legacy Athletics In Westfield, Indiana

Like many teenagers, I played sports in high school and trained for whatever sport I was playing at the time. It was then that my fascination with health and fitness came to light. I invested myself in sports such as Muy-Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and rugby. I wanted to learn anything and everything there was to know about health and fitness. I gained knowledge not through school, but instead through years of my own studying and research and ultimately, I started my own Strength and Conditioning company. Which as many of you might know, can come with inconsistent hours and less than ideal pay starting out. The need to provide for my growing family pulled me away from the life of a strength and conditioning coach, and I found myself in corporate sales. During this time, I continued with my passion on the side, dreaming that one day working hard in the corporate world would pay off and I could finally open my own gym. In 2011, the opportunity presented itself to buy into a gym in the Fishers area. I felt I was ready to make the jump, but unfortunately it was a failing business and God had bigger and better plans in sales for me at that time. As difficult as it was for me, I knew my dream had to continue to wait.

Fast forward 10 years when I found CrossFit. Right around the time I resigned from my corporate career and started my Insurance Brokerage (Legacy Insurance Enterprises) I fell in love with the sport and wanted to compete, but I knew I needed a team to train with. In 2021 I found CrossFit Thrive and an incredible community that came along with it. Not too much time had passed when I started to wonder if the owner would ever consider selling. Sure enough, he had considered selling for some time.  After some back and forth and a few other dry details, my wife, Monica, and I pulled the trigger and bought ThriveFit on February 1, 2022 and rebranded as Legacy Athletics. This is a true testament to the fact that God laughs at our plans and His timing is better!

The timing could not have worked out better for the previous owner and us to strike up a win-win situation for both the community and the families of the two.  We ran into a few hiccups along the way of getting the deal closed.  Once again God has a plan… introduce Caitlin Green to the mix.  Caitlin was looking to move on from her current career and when a current member brought her to my attention I reached out to see if she had interest in being our General Manager and Director of training.  She was highly interested as what we were presenting was a dream opportunity for her.  Caitlin was brought on within a few weeks after the initial conversation and has been doing an incredible job since.  Caitlin is our General Manager/Director of Training as well as our nutritionist.  Caitlin is a Level 2 CrossFit coach and licensed nutritionist and health coach and also owns her own nutrition company ‘Lean Mean Green Health’.

At Legacy Athletics we have an incredible community here in Westfield, IN and want to facilitate a place where coaches can build a career doing what they are passionate about.  We are very blessed to be where we are and will continue working our tails off to become the best CrossFit community in the state of Indiana!

“Upward Intention!”
